Ben Nichols Solo Album (8/10)
Being one of the biggest Lucero fans out there, I'm pretty ashamed of myself for not knowing about this album. If you like older, slower, Lucero stuff check this out for sure. It's a concept album based on Blood Meridian, Cormac McCarthy's fifth book. I haven't read it yet but according to Wikipedia, it's widely regarded as his masterpiece and one of the greatest American novels of the century. Being a fan of The Road, it's going to be the next book I read. And if you like Lucero, buy this album it's only like 6 bucks and its really good.
The Watcher in the Woods (aaahhhh/nightmares)
I have been looking for this movie for the last 10 years or so. Whenever I'd ask people "Do you remember that horror movie Disney made in the 80's" they'd say "Disney never made a horror movie" and to that I'd always respond "Um yes they did and it was the scariest fucking movie I've ever seen". I remember watching this in class in grade 3 and I almost shat my pants in fear. Creepy kids singing "Ring Around the Posy" in an old abandoned church in the woods, no thanks. It's funny too because if you go to the IMDB page and read the comments there are like 500 comments from people saying how this movie scared the shit out of them when they were kids. You may have never seen it but I bet you remember the trailer because it was at the beginning of every Disney VHS/Beta in the 80's.
Another scary TV spot. How is this a kids movie? I'm terrified!
